Athens was a big state in mainland Greece. They excelled in philosophy, art, literature, and mathematics.

Sparta

Sparta. a w infamous city state, that was known

for their brutality and education of warfare.

These people were known for the way the state owned a man from birth to death. When people were born them would take the new born and decide if

they were weak. If proven weak, they would be left
to die of exposure. This shows the rest of the worldthat this state of people did not accept the weak.
Not only did they believe in strength and weedingout the weak, but they also looked at the philosophy

of life. they believed it was their duty to live a meaningful life devoted to self discipline. Spartans

believed they lived in the best of all Greek worlds, and many of their Greek neighbors agreed

with them.

An important aspect of the spartan life was warfare. They were known for recognizing quality over quantity.
